THE RESURRECTION POWER OF JESUS CHRIST
The gospel of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and Resurrection are inseparable. Resurrection is a major theme of the New Testament.
The bible says that Lazarus had died, and by the time Jesus was called and reached him, he was already buried in the tomb four days. And when Jesus prayed to God, Lazarus was raised from the dead and came back to life, John 11:1-44:
4 When Jesus heard, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”
12 Then His disciples said, “Lord if he sleeps he will get well.”
14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.”
17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.”
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 “And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”
43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”
44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Lose him, and let him go.”
We are also told of Apostle Paul teaching the Athenians about Jesus and the resurrection, Acts 17:16-21:
18 Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.
19 And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new doctrine is of which you speak?
20 “For you are bringing some strange things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean.”
21 For all the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing.
Uniqueness of Jesus’ Resurrection:
In all resurrections that the world has ever witnessed, the people concerned including Lazarus, are subject to a second death. It is only Jesus who rose from the dead and never died again as He triumphed over death so that He can be Lord of both the dead and the living. He became the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
1 Corinthians 15:1-28
20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.
The First Resurrection will take place at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ at which the dead saints will be resurrected and together with the living saints, they will reign with Christ for 1000 years. Only the elect saints will have part in this First Resurrection. It is at this point that Satan will also be bound for the next 1000 years so that he can deceive the nations no more till the thousand years are finished.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgement was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
It therefore follows that the second resurrection will take place after a thousand years at which the dead who did not have part in the first resurrection will be raised. This is also the time when judgement will be carried out on all the peoples.
Satanic Rebellion Crushed:
7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison.
8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
The Great White Throne Judgement:
11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
All Things Made New:
1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
